I was thrilled to stop by the Capitol Market today and see all of the vegetable stalls set up for business. I have often complained lately how it seemed to be turning into a hanging baskets and flower market. Those things are fine, however, when I think Farmer’s Market I envision tomatoes, cukes, beans, eggs, fruits, etc, etc, etc…. Something else I noticed there too which delighted me is the greater number of heirloom types of items: tomatoes and egg plant were two that I had to get. Additionally the fact that the goods were from local area farms was prominently displayed and used as a selling tool which causes me to have hope that even we in West Virginia are catching up to the times just a little bit.
